Jack Doohan puts on a show at a wet Paul Ricard

Monday, 21 June 2021

The Aussie had a tense last few laps.

Jack Doohan has secured his first FIA Formula 3™ win, after starting from fourth on the grid. A wet Circuit Paul Ricard made for a tense final few laps.

The Trident driver only took the lead of the race with five laps to go. He was able to overtake the race leader, Dennis Hauger, after being told to go for it over the team radio. Although Hauger put up a challenge, the Australian was able to hang onto the lead.

"I am very happy with the result and very thankful to the team, to the engineers and the mechanics for giving me an awesome car. The conditions weren't the easiest, but we managed them well and came out on top," Doohan said.

"I am very happy, and I am now looking forward to the Red Bull Ring in just over a week."

Another Australian on the rise in the FIA Formula 3™ championships is Calan Williams. The Jenzer Motorsport driver scored his first points and podium of the season in Race 1 over the weekend.

Williams plan for the first race "was to go in with a cool head and do what I could, finish well in Race 1 and set myself up well for Race 2."

"There's no need to take any unnecessary risks in this race and compromise the whole weekend. I'm really happy to come away with P3, and for the team, it's an incredible result."

Round 3 of the FIA Formula 3™ championships will take place over the 2-4 July weekend in Spielberg, Austra.
