The final race of the Formula 2® season ended abruptly for Jack Doohan after his front-left wheel fell off.
The Australian’s strategy meant he was one of the final drivers to pit, with good pace and a solid pit stop – so we thought – Doohan would return to the race with eight laps to go on fresh tyres in P5.
It wasn’t long before the Vitruosi’s driver’s tyre flew off and ended the F2® campaign of the Gold Coast-born driver.
Doohan also went into the race looking to secure the rookie of the year title. However, Logan Sargeant claimed that title.
Although nothing has been confirmed, it is expected that Doohan will once again drive in Formula 2® in 2023, with the series heading to Albert Park for the very first time.
