Friday, 15 October 2021

Get close to the action.

Victoria will again be Australia’s home of international major events when it hosts the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in April 2022.

Fans will be welcomed back through the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit gates from the 7th to the 10th of April, marking the triumphant return of Australia’s most prestigious international motorsport event.

The Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix 2022 will feature plenty of firsts for crowds to experience, such as Daniel Ricciardo’s inaugural race with McLaren on home soil, a big shake up at Mercedes with the arrival of George Russell, and fans will get the chance to witness the newly designed F1® cars in action, with better aerodynamics which will deliver more action-packed racing.

On top of that, the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit has been modified to promote more aggressive driving. As part of the development, seven corners have been modified – with two removed entirely – to create a new high-speed zone. In addition, the circuit will also be resurfaced for the first time since it was originally laid in 1995, with works taking place over the summer months. These circuit changes will also allow for soon-to-be-announced new and reimagined hospitality offerings as well as exciting new viewing locations.

Fans can expect thrilling experiences away from the track, with a diverse range of food and entertainment, family activities, music experiences celebrating emerging and established artists, new hospitality products and much more.

With only six months to go until the event and only four months until the circuit build commences, work continues with Formula 1® and the Victorian Government on a broad range of operational and logistical matters to ensure that the event proceeds safely and successfully.

The Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix 2022 is more than just a race, it’s a lifestyle. Next year, don’t just watch F1® – live it.

Tickets to the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix 2022 will go on sale across various categories in November and you can register your interest today at www.grandprix.com.au.

It's so good to be coming back to Melbourne, all us drivers have missed it and for me it's awesome to have a home race again. The new Albert Park layout is something we're all looking forward to in the new cars and racing in front of a home crowd after three years will be pretty special.”
