Calan Williams announces Formula 2® post-season test spot

Calan Williams has announced overnight that he will be taking part in the FIA Formula 2® official post-season testing in Abu Dhabi with Trident Motorsport.

The Australian has driven for the Jenzer Motorsport team in Formula 3® over the last two seasons.

This season, his maiden podium in F3® came in Race 1 at Le Castellet, with a third-place finish.

“I can’t wait to have my first taste of Formula 2 with such a professional team in Trident Motorsport,” said Williams.

“They’ve had great results this year, with their highlight being winning the Teams’ Championship in Formula 3.

“I’ve been preparing physically for the testing for the past few months. The step up to a car that is heavier and corners and accelerates faster than anything I’ve ever experienced before will push me even further, so I need to be ready.

“I’m sure the three-day program will also be intense, so I’ll have my endurance tested as well.”

Calan will be hoping the testing helps him secure a drive in F2® for the 2022 season.

The FIA Formula 2® post-season testing will take place on 16 – 18 December in Abu Dhabi.
