The 2024 season can have multiple Australian drivers on the F1® grid for the first time since Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo were racing in 2013.

Oscar Piastri has begun to see success in his rookie season with McLaren, narrowly missing out on podium finishes in both Great Britain and Hungary, followed by a second placing in the sprint race in Belgium.

Ricciardo has had an unexpected early return to a race seat, replacing Nyck de Vries at Alpha Tauri for the remainder of the 2023 season.

Fellow Australian Jack Doohan is waiting in the wings for his chance at an F1® seat, with recent back-to-back wins in Hungary and Belgium in Formula 2®. Doohan is also a reserve driver for the Alpine F1 Team and is a favourite for a rookie driver opening in 2024.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos, said: “Formula 1 fever will take over Melbourne again in March, creating jobs and boosting local businesses.”

“The past two Formula 1 Australian Grands Prix have broken Melbourne attendance records, and next year’s race is set to be bigger than ever. The event is yet another reason for motorsport fans and major event lovers to get out and revel in the best the state has to offer.”

To ensure fans can access tickets at a fair price, the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix 2024 is a declared event under the Major Events Act 2009. Under the legislation, tickets to a declared major event can't be advertised for resale or resold for more than 10 per cent above their original value.

“With tickets in such high demand in 2023, we wanted to give fans as much time as possible to plan for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix 2024, particularly those travelling from interstate and internationally,” said Australian Grand Prix Corporation Acting CEO, Dale Nardella.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time for Australian motorsport with so much talent across the categories, and we can’t wait to welcome the best drivers in the world back to Albert Park in March.”
