The Australian Grand Prix podcast In the Fast Lane podcast has released a new episode with former Formula 1® driver and esteemed TV commentator Martin Brundle.
Brundle joins In the Fast Lane co-hosts Matt Clayton and Michael Lamonato to reflect on his lessons learned working with Murray Walker, discuss Lewis Hamilton’s future, weigh in on the planned rule changes for 2022, and assess whether Daniel Ricciardo’s switch to McLaren is the right move.
On Ricciardo, Brundle shares his thoughts on which of the Aussie’s team changes he thinks were right and which were a mistake, and how he is going to get back towards the front of the grid.
“Unless somehow or other he can get into a Mercedes, where else would he go? I can’t see him going back (to Red Bull). He probably should have stayed at Red Bull, but he felt all the love was in Max’s direction and I can understand that completely,” Brundle said.
“Renault was a mistake which we all kind of suspected at the time, but I think that was him needing to get out of Red Bull as much as anything.
“I do believe if he’s got the patience, and they’ve got the patience, if he sticks with McLaren, that can take him back to the front of the field.”
The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
