Davidson joined In the Fast Lane co-hosts Matt Clayton and Michael Lamonato to dissect the Austrian Grand Prix, assess whether Red Bull and Max Verstappen can be stopped for this year's title, ponder Lewis Hamilton's two-year contract renewal and talk about the differences between modern F1® machinery and state-of-the-art simulators.

A big topic of discussion is Daniel Ricciardo’s performance this year compared to McLaren teammate Lando Norris, Davidson believes it is one of the biggest surprises of the season so far.

“It’s one of the biggest surprises of the year, I really thought Daniel would come in there and at least carry on with how he was doing at Renault or how Carlos Sainz was doing when he was teammates with Lando, but as we said, Lando has stepped it up,” said Davidson.

“So I don’t think it’s a case of Daniel not performing where he should be, I just think Lando has just stepped it up,” he continued.

Whilst Davidson says Lando has stepped it up, he also concedes that sometimes drivers just don’t gel with their car.

“You just get in a car every once in while in your career and it just doesn’t work for you and I fear that could be happening with Daniel.”

The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
